Windows server 2008 network user accounts


















I was trying to setup another user on our new r2 server for remote access, which is strange since the first time I opened it, there is a list of about 14 usernames, which I did not add, but any time I try to add or remove a user, the console just freezes up and says not responding.

I disabled UAC since it is annoying, but also to see if that might help, but no luck. I tried to use regedit to add the user to the remote group, but that didn't work either. Are there any group policies being applied to this server that could be adding those accounts? Dynamic Network Solutions is an IT service provider. If there are accounts in there that you didn't add it is time to change the admin password and delete the other accounts. If you are using RDP to access the server you have more than likely been hacked.

Shut down access to port and clean everything up prior to letting anyone else have access. Change the port as well. With Windows Server , there used to be an OS utility which displayed servers, shares and connections, but I have not found it yet on WS There was a third party utility I used to use named Hyena from Adkins Resource, which I believe is still being marketed, which did an excellent job of displaying all manner of information about virtually every aspect of a server's condition.

The info provided isn't sufficient in sessions or shares. It does not show specifically which users are connected to what share. I often see multiple connections to a network share, but If a user does not have a file open than I can't tell who is connected.
